Hi,
I am Sylvia's nephew. We found a writeup on Charles from his days at IBM . He was a humble brilliant, caring man and we miss him.

B.A, 1949, Hamilton College; M. A, 1951, The Johns Hopkins
University; Ph.D., 1954, Cornell University, all in Mathematics.
He was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics
at Union College for 3 years. He taught for 1 year at Hamilton College and served as an instructor in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) cooperative program during the summers of 1958 and 1959. During the 1960-61 school year, he served as a visiting professor at North Carolina State College where he helped establish a PhD curriculum in applied mathematics.
Joined IBM at Owego in 1957 and was a Senior Mathematician at the FSD Space Systems Center in
Endicott. I think he retired in 1984.
Member, Sigma Xi, Phi Beta Kappa, American
Mathematical Society.

Charles was a heck of a nice guy, who we considered part of our family. He will be greatly missed by all of us. He was a brilliant and thoughtful man.
