Reva Craft Smith

Reva Craft Smith, 93, Greene, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Smith, in 1991; sister, Ruth Muzzy; brother, Donald Craft; and sister, Edna Nichols; son, Emerson Smith; daughter-in-law, Kay Smith. Reva is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Howard Poyer; two sons and daughter-in-law, Marshall Smith and Robert and MarySue Smith; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Phelps; 12 grandchildren, Andrew, Vanessa, Jim, Susan, Sally, Kathy, Michael, Teri, Ronald, Daniel, Gary and Linda; several great-grand and great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Betty Craft; sister in law Marilyn Craft ; and many wonderful friends. Reva was fiercely proud of the farm that she and Harold purchased and developed with much hard work over 67 years. After Harold’s death, she continued to actively supervise the farm activities. She lived for and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a great listener to all of her friends and acquaintances. Reva loved trying new recipes, but will be remembered for her ginger snaps and apple pies. Family history, sewing, and quilting with her granddaughters and her flowers were some of her many interests. Mom was a clever and strong lady. Funeral and committal services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St., Greene, NY 13778. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene, in the spring. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Root Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greene Community Services Life Link Program, PO Box 388, Greene, NY or to Greene Grange 1413 c/o Peg Moxley, 301 Harrington Rd., Greene, NY 13778.
