Yvonne was devoted to her Family, her Faith and her Community.  She was a graduate of Greene Central School in 1951 and CCBI College in 1952.  She married the love of her life, Don in 1953.  She was a stay at home mom for many years until her youngest child went to school and then worked as an aid at the school so that she would be home when the children were.  Later she worked as a Kelly Girl until that led to full time employment at Singer Link, became the manager of the contract department and retired from there in 1989. She was involved in many organizations and held many leadership positions.  She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #135, holding a number of positions including Grand Chaplin and District Deputy Grand Matron for NY State and Matron of Chapter #135.  Member of the Greene United Methodist Church for many years and was the president of the local chapter of the United Methodist Women. She was a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent, a Lay Speaker and volunteered on many Church projects (monthly Fish Fries, making thousands of pies, set up and worked the Applefest event for many years, etc. She left the Methodist Church and became a member of the Coventry United Gospel Church for the last several years. She belonged to the Greene Alumni Association and helped to prepare food and work the food tent for the Greene Labor Day Picnic. She and Don had a love of camping and travel.  Family vacations involved both.  After they both retired, they spent nearly a year traveling and camping around the United States. We would like to give a special thanks to Kyrstan Cudney, who not only helped us care for mom for several months, but who also became her trusted friend and confidant; the Palliative Care Unit at Binghamton General Hospital; and the Mercy House, that wrapped us all in their loving care for mom’s final days.  They made an unbearable time bearable - for which we all will be forever grateful. A service conducted by the Order of Eastern Star Chenango Chapter #135 will start at 2:45pm Saturday, January 13, 2023 at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778. A funeral service will immediately follow at Root Funeral Home. Friends of the family may call from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, January 12 at Root Funeral Home.
