Wade Paul Brice

Wade Brice of Greene, NY, passed away on August 4, 2024 at the age of  91. Wade was born in Lankford, MD on December 19, 1932. He was one of eleven children of the late Harry Brice and Amanda Thomas Brice.  After school he enlisted in the U.S. Army.  He served in the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, NC, during the Korean War.  After serving his country, Wade went to work for McFarland-Johnson where he worked util he retired. He was an avid hunter, a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills football team and the NY Yankees.   Wade came from a long family history of military service. His father served in WWI in France and his sister Nina was an Army nurse in WWII. His brother Tilden was a Marine in Okinawa in WWII. Brother Joe was in the Army in Germany during WWII, his brother Charles was in the Navy towards the end of WWII in the Pacific, brother John served in Korea with the Marines, brother Richard was in the Marines as well. In addition to his wife Shirley, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Tilden, Joe, John, Richard and Charles and sisters Nina, Betty and Peggy. Wade is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Thompson, Tania Speight (Allan), Jada Coots (Tom) and son, Wade Brice Jr.; grandchildren, Anthony Bennett (Dawn), Daniel Bennett (Carrie May)), Amanda Bennett (Derek Shelley), Loretta Dettman, Vanessa Brice, Kendra Claflin, Joshua Brice (Kaitlyn), Tommy Coots. And eleven great-grandchildren. Along with two sisters, Lavina Slagle and Barbara Collins. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Greene American Legion Post # 692, PO Box 149, Greene, New York 13778. Private services are under direction of Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
