Victor H. Hammond

Victor H. Hammond, 72, of Smithville Flats, passed away surrounded by his family on April, 6, 2023. He was predeceased by his son, Jarred Matthew Hammond; his parents and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Susan; sons, Chris (Kara) and Brett (Karie); grandchildren, Charles Victor, Kinleigh Grace, Abigail Renee, Alex Matthew, Cooper Jacob Gibson and Caleb Thomas Joseph; brothers, sisters and a brother-in-law. Victor graduated Victor High School class of 1970. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the US Navy, was a past member of the American Legion of Oxford, a Boy Scout leader for several troops, served several towns in Chenango County as a Code Enforcement Officer and Dog Warden, and was retired from The Raymond Corporation. Victor was a jack of all trades and a master of some. He was a musician and loved playing and teaching guitar, was a father figure and mentor to many. He loved and always put his family first. A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Saturday, April 15 at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778. Friends of the family may call from 1:30pm until the time of service.
