Thomas Christopher "Chris" Purple

Thomas Christopher (“Chris”) Purple of Canastota passed away on Saturday August 12, 2022. He was born on November 19, 1949 to Paul Vincent Purple and Margaret June Purple of Hillcrest.  He graduated from Greene Central High School in 1968 and wasted no time pursuing his passion of skydiving.  Chris spent much of his time hiking or biking on the Erie Canal as well as several trails in the Canastota area.  He loved watching NASCAR and Indy Car racing.  He is survived by his two sons, Sean Purple, of Midlothian, VA, (his wife, Jessica, and their two daughters, Sophia and Sadie Purple, and Sean’s son, Sean Parisi, of Granite Falls, NC) and Andrew Purple of Batavia, OH, (his wife Meghan, and their three children Bryce, Kolbe, and Lucia Purple).  He is also survived by his niece, Stacy Mertz of Georgetown and her family.  A funeral service will be held 11:00am Thursday at Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778.
