Stanley Fendryk Obituary

Stanley Robert Fendryk, 70, of Greene passed away Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, the way he wanted… on his own terms, in his home with his beloved wife, Betty Fendryk. Stan was born in Greene’s hospital on September 8, 1952, to the late, Stanley and Leona Fendryk. He would be the younger brother to his sister, Carol (Dana) Melchior.  Stan is also survived by his sons, Stanley (Nicole), Sherwood (Erika), Jesse (Sarah); daughters, Victoria Sadlacek and Damian Bales, Miranda and Robert Covin; 10 grandchildren; niece, Rosemary Melchior; nephew, Dana Melchior and his dog, Chester. Stan was involved in athletics throughout his childhood and had a successful career at Greene Central Schools as a three-sport athlete; football, wrestling and baseball. He was known for being a hard-hitting monster on the gridiron, and a bull on the mat. In wrestling, he was a state qualifier at 215lbs and placed 3rd in the NYSPHSAA wrestling tournament in 1971. Stanley enlisted in the United States Army after graduating high school and served active duty. He would attend Lehigh University after his service and continue to play football and wrestle. He graduated with a degree in business. Stan had a successful business as a bar owner. “Stan’s Place” was the place to be on a Friday night, live rockin’ music and cheap beer on tap. He ran the place until the mid-ninety’s and would later pursue a career in finance as a senior account executive.  He loved his children unconditionally and supported them in everything they did. Whether he was on the sidelines watching his boy’s playing soccer or football, rain, or shine, he was there. He spent most of his weekends in bleachers at wrestling tournament. He would even be seen at basketball games where his daughters cheered and at the poolside as his daughter swam. He loved the outdoors, and he would often spend many weekends at Chenango Valley State Park (chipmunk bluff, site 110) camping and hiking. Stan absolutely enjoyed reading, and most often he could be found in his chair with a fine bourbon and a good book. If he wasn’t reading, he could be found walking his sidekick, Chester, throughout the village. Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greene Wrestling Club, 3 Monell St, Greene, NY 13778 or by PayPal @GreeneWrestling.
