Sandra Koster Obituary

Sandra S. Koster, 84, a beloved mother and best friend passed away unexpectedly on May 6, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family and God. She will be remember for her kindness, strength and love she shared with those around her throughout her life. Her smile would light up a room. Sandra was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family and her flowers. Her caring spirit, warm heart and treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Burr Donald and Bernetta Singer; husband, Owen; sons, Owen Jr. and Donald; brother-in-laws, John Gates, George Koster and George Fox; and in-laws, Emil and Pearl Koster. She is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah Burns; adopted daughter, Loretta (James) Rogers; her beloved grandchildren, Zachariah Burns, Corey Burns (Salena), Kirsten Koster, Chelsie Brotzman (Randy), Leon Koster, Donald Koster (Samantha), Nathanial Croop (Hailly) and Cassandra Koster (Damion); many great-grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne (Daniel) Woodruff and Sharon Gates; sister-in-laws, Joanne and Verna; special friends, Thomas and Carolyn Tripple, Richard and Lynda Granger; and her dog, Cuddles. Sandra was an incredible woman whose love shaped the lives of everyone blessed to know her. She was the definition of unconditional and sacrificial love. She gave endlessly of herself, always putting her children, grandchildren, and family before anything else. Her heart was pure, gentle, and full of kindness, and no matter what life brought, she always made the people around her feel loved, welcomed, and safe. She had a beautiful spirit that could light up any room. She was funny, silly, and always smiling, the kind of person whose laughter was contagious and whose presence brought comfort. Even in difficult times, she found ways to make others laugh and feel at peace. Her family was truly her whole world, and there was nothing she loved more than spending time with her children and grandchildren, making memories that will stay with us forever. She was also an amazing cook, and her meals were more than just food; they were acts of love. No one ever left her home hungry, and the warmth she poured into every dish reflected the warmth she carried in her soul. She also loved to gamble and enjoyed the excitement, laughter, and fun that came with it, especially when surrounded by family and friends. The legacy she leaves behind is not measured in material things, but in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the family she held together with her strength and compassion. Her love was selfless, rare, and genuine, and it will continue to live on through every person she nurtured and cared for. Though our hearts are broken by this loss, we are forever grateful for the time, wisdom, laughter, and love she gave us. She was deeply cherished and will be missed more than words can express, but her spirit and the lessons she taught us about love, family, and kindness will remain with us always. Sandra's memory will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the family and friends she loved so dearly. To honor her wishes, there will be no services at this time. The family will be having a celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements are by Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
