Roberta "Midge" Stanton, 90, formerly of Greene went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2025. She is predeceased by her husband, Ray “Skip”; parents, Louis and Thelma Ferguson; and son, Patrick Stanton. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Joan) Stanton of Virginia, Michael (Rebecca) Stanton of Walworth, Julie (Michael) Rinella of Marion; daughter-in-law, Terrea Stanton of Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Crossley of Port Crane; several nieces, cousins, and many special friends. Midge lived in Greene most of her life and was very involved in the community. She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Greene, and served as President of the Alter & Rosary Society. Midge was a member of the Red Hats in Greene. She was the first teacher of Greene Head Start, and a substitute teacher at Greene Elementary School. She was involved with the Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Girl Scouts. She was active in the Greene Area Food Pantry and Band Boosters. Midge and Skip would walk around town holding hands wherever they went. During COVID, she and many friends made over 17,000 masks for local and national organizations. They also sew teddy bears for Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester. The family truly appreciates the Greene community for all they have done for them. Friends and family may call from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM Friday, March 7, 2025, at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778. A Recitation of the Rosary will immediately follow the calling hours at 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church of Greene, 1180 State Route 206, Greene, NY 13778.
