Robert Allison Symons, Jr., 98, a long-time resident of Hopewell Township, PA, passed away peacefully at the home of his son Dennis Symons, on March 14, 2024, attended by some of his family.
He was born on May 17, 1925, son of the late Robert and Agnes Symons. He is survived by two brothers, John and James; a daughter Marianne Stalder and husband David; three sons: Robert and wife Catherine; Dennis and wife Brenda; Donald and wife Cynthia, a son-in-law George McCleery, as well as 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and daughter Cheryl McCleery.
He was a graduate of Aliquippa High School, and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was for many years employed by Pittsburgh Tube Company of Monaca, PA.
A charter member of the Evangelical Wesleyan Church, he served for some years on its Administrative Board, and as General Church Treasurer. He was a faithful congregant of the Church in Hopewell Twp.
He became a Christian at a young age and faithfully served his Lord and the Church with steadfast devotion and dedication. A wonderful example to his children, he led them in the ways of the Lord, sharing his wisdom and godly counsel. His faith and love for God were evident always in his daily life.
He was a loving father, devoted to his family, generous and kind, a rock of stability in the lives of those who knew him. Much loved in life, cherished in the memories he left, and followed in the faith and blessed hope of his Lord.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4 - 7 pm at TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, PA, 15001, and Friday, March 22, 2024, from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Aliquippa.
