Robert H. Ross, 95, died on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the Good Shepherd Village in Endwell, NY. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peg; daughters, Valerie Ross and Betsy Ross-Gulyas (Jay). Bob is also survived by five grandchildren, John (Ariel) Gulyas, Dan Gulyas, Belle Gulyas, Molly Buck and Sam Buck. Bob was born in Buffalo, NY and grew up in Elmhurst and Queens Village on Long Island, NY. He studied the Schillinger system of music at NYU under Rudolph Schramm and also studied music composition and piano with Vic Muzzy. In 1951, Bob moved to Greene and learned to appreciate Upstate New York. He worked 37 years for the Raymond Corporation and had fond memories of his time there. In April 2021, he and Peg moved to the Good Shepherd Village in Endwell and his life did end well there. Bob was a quiet man with a good sense of humor. He enjoyed rooting for the Brooklyn (and later Los Angeles) Dodgers, playing golf, smoking his pipe and reading his beloved books, especially the canon of Sherlock Holmes. He was the number one fan of his daughters’ sporting events when they were in high school. He was a gentleman of the first order and loved his family deeply. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Moore Memorial Library, 59 Genesee St., Greene, NY 13778. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
