Village of Greene Mayor - Phillip E. Brown, passed away in the arms of his family November 29, 2023. Phill was born January 10, 1954 to the late Edward and Patricia Brown. He was also predeceased by his in-laws; Herbert and Beverly Deabler, and his beloved dog, Nelly. Phill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carla; son, Anthony “Tony” (Megan); granddaughter, Alexandria (Kevin); grandsons, Tyler (Mikayla) and Keagan Brown; step-grandchildren, Summer and Gavin Dean; daughter, Angela (Micheal); granddaughters, Ahraya and Ella Whitt; brother, Larry (Karen) Brown; brother-in-law, James (Sandy) Deabler; sister-in-law, Paula (Jan) Winner and his canine sidekick, Ivy. Phill also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends near and far and the Town of Greene. Phill was a graduate of Greene Central School 1972. Phill worked at the Raymond Corporation until he retired in 2016. Phill found the love for transporting students on the horse bus for GCS up until his final days. He was an honorary member of the Greene Fire Department, and Emergency Squad and served as their secretary for many years. He was also an honorary member of Lake Ludlow Club Inc., where he served as secretary for many years. He served as a secretary for the Thursday night men’s golf league. Phill was a former member of the Greene Lion’s Club and served as president. Phill’s biggest joy in life was his family, following his grandchildren while taking pictures of all of their activities. Phill had a love and passion for golf and being at tee-time. Phill enjoyed his poker nights even if he came up empty handed. Phill was known as a man of few words but had an impact on those he met along the way and his morning coffee and golf crew. Phill made the generous decision to donate his eyes to a person in need. Our family’s hope is that this person will see the beauty in life the way he did. Phill will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew him. Friends of the family may call from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, December 4, 2023 at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lake Ludlow Association or a charity of one’s choice.
