Maureen “Nan” Whittaker, 81, of Oxford, went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2025.
Born and raised in England, Maureen first came to the United States as a young woman to work as a nanny for a physician. After returning to England for a time, she pursued her passion for caring for others and became a nurse. Eventually, she made her way back to the U.S., where she continued her life of service as a nurse at the Veterans Home and later as a teacher’s aide at Oxford Academy Primary School.
Maureen was known for her love of simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching the news, relaxing with her favorite movies, spending time outdoors, and bringing color to her days with adult coloring books. Above all, she cherished the moments she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An animal lover at heart, she found joy in caring for and being surrounded by pets.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Whittaker, as well as her sister, June, and brother, Tony. She is survived by her sister, Linda (Nigel); her children, Tracey (Glen), Raymond (Sue), and Stacey; her grandchildren, William (Tori), Connor and Cameron; and her great-grandchildren, Braxton and Grayson.
