Raised on a dairy farm in Great Bend, P.A. where he learned his hard work ethic, Mark went on to become a graduate of Blue Ridge High School; class of 1978. Upon graduation, Mark enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. where he served 6 years stating, “the service made me the man I am today”. Following that, Mark learned the electronics and the telecommunications fields which he made a career for 40+ years. Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking, and many other outdoor activities. His greatest pastime was duck and goose hunting where he developed many friendships over the years. His connection to family was very important to him and in the last year he created some of his favorite memories, which included taking his dad out to lunch, goose hunting with his oldest grandson, Alex; and having a bonfire with all of his daughters and grandchildren. Mark also served his community for 25 years as a driver for the Greene Emergency Squad and 34 years of service in the Greene Fire Department where he served many officer positions including First Assistant Chief. He organized annual events such as the clam bake and pancake breakfast for many years. He treasured the many friendships he experienced during that time. Mark had the “gift to gab” and was one of those people that when you meet him you love him. The family would like to thank the Greene Fire Department, his prior work family, and numerous family and friends for all their love and support along this difficult journey. Also, a special thanks to Guthrie Hospice and Mercy House for the compassionate care given. A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, July 13 at the Berean Bible Church, 109 County Road 2, Greene, New York 13778.
