Margaret "Peggy" Evans

Margaret "Peggy" Chaffee Evans, 88, formerly of Greene took her final journey to be with the Lord on September 21, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Ruth Chaffee Sr.; sister, Denise Osborne; son, Timothy Evans; and sons-in-law, Robert Smith and Thomas Gyurik. Peggy is survived by her daughters, Kellie Evans- Gyurik, Tammy Smith and Bonnie Evans; daughter-in-law, Tracey Evans- Ventura; grandchildren, Alyson Gyurik, Kevin Gyurik, Scott (Monique) Beadle, Kathryn (Timothy) Cunnius; Ryan (Jackie) Evans and Andrew Evans; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Harvey Chaffee Jr. and 2 nephews and their families. Peggy grew up in Binghamton and graduated from Binghamton High School in 1954. She then went on to fulfill her dream of becoming a registered nurse, graduating from the Binghamton General Hospital School of Nursing. Her nursing career spanned 32 years, many of them at Willow Point Nursing Home where she retired from as a floor charge nurse. Her hobbies included needle crafts, jigsaw puzzles and she would read a book a day if given the time. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. The family would like to thank the staff at Willow Point Nursing Home for their excellent and attentive care of Peggy for the last several years. Friends of the family may call from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice in Peggy's name.
