Lois Lum Obituary

Lois Eva Lum, 87, of McDonough NY left her earthly home on April 21,2026 after an extended illness. She was born on November 20, 1938 in Sherburne NY to John and Ethel Foster Gates. Lois was the wife of over 50 years to Richard H Lum Jr. She is survived by daughters Deb Estes, Kelly Lum and stepdaughter Marjorie Ramey (Shawn) and her sons Kim Stephens (Leslie), Kirby Stephens (Martha) and Kip Stephens (Joann).  We will remember her great love for each of us and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dana Montigny (Rene) and their daughter Ryleigh share in her great love for horses; Kymberly Naylor (Martin) and her sons Taylor and Jaxon; Jaclyn Stephens, Mackenzie Brewer (Brandy), Morgan Stephens, Madison Best (Sam) and their three children Dom, Gianna, and Louis and Margaux Belvin (Hunter), Justin (Urszula) and Michael Jankuv and Hunter and Austin Quillan who were always close by. She is survived by siblings Daniel Gates, Gregg Gates and Alice Jean Donovan , many nieces and nephews and cousins with a special place for cousin George (Cindy) Gates. In addition to her parents Lois was predeceased by her siblings Kenneth Gates, John F Gates, Thomas Gates, Phyllis Mignerey, Jan Delaney and stepson Richard Lum III. Lois grew up in Tunnel NY and attended Harpursville High School. Lois worked hard for many years at Robintech and Electromech ending her working career at Raymond Corporation. She never wanted anyone to go hungry at her table. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, cooking, canning, camping, reading, having company and playing cards. They hosted various family members and friends from time to time over the years. Singer Danny O’Donnell was her Saturday night favorite these last several years. For a few years while she was able, she attended Berean Bible Church in Greene NY.  Private burial will be in Sylvan Cemetery in Greene NY.  In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of one's choice.
