James M. Comfort, 64 of Greene, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. He was predeceased by his father, William Comfort. He is survived by his wife, Susan Comfort; children, John M. Comfort and Sara A. Comfort; mother, Sara Jane and husband Michael Dailey; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Thomas Lathrop; father-in-law, James Albrecht; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Amy and Jeff Hoeffel; 2 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Paula Albrecht, Mark and Vonnie Albrecht and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim retired from Raymond Corporation as a Senior Field Service Representative, after over 30 years of service. Before that, Jim served in the United States Navy as a Submariner, for 6 years. He loved his family and friends dearly, and enjoyed spending his time off-roading in his Jeep, or playing golf. He was an avid reader, and a lifelong student who never stopped trying to learn more and be the best he could be. Jim valued his family and friends above all else and loved the time he could spend with them. He was always good natured, funny, and had a joke to tell anyone who had the time to listen. His sense of humor will be missed, and the memories we all have of him will be cherished. A private family service will be held and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Jim’s name to: https://www.stachestrong.org/ for their brain cancer research fund. Services are under direction of Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
