Jack R. Cowan

Jack R. Cowan, 79, recently from Johnson City but a longtime resident of Greene, NY was taken home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 31, 2024.  Jack retired from Raymond Corporation after a long career as an admired welder. He was known to lend a helping hand to whomever was in need whether it was family, friends, neighbors or strangers. But he was most known for his stories and his ability at storytelling.  Jack is at peace now reuniting with those taken way too early in his life and meeting the father that died prior to him being born, Russell E. Cowan who was killed in WWII. He was also predeceased by the love of his life, Audrey (Estes); first born son, Russell L.; parents, Burleigh and Helen (Hatton) Spencer; his parents’-in-law, Jesse and Ruth (Ellis) Estes and a special longtime companion, Patricia.  He leaves behind 3 daughters, Beverly (Chet) Vigus, Jenny (Randall) Knight and Jessica Andrews; 3 sons, Michael (Jane) Cowan, Robert Cowan and Jesse (Julia) Cowan. He was also blessed with several loving grandchildren, Amanda, Jordan, Tylor, Timothy, Katie, Matthew, Brian, Nicole, Matthew L., Jennifer (deceased), Maria, Tony, Kevin, Samuel and Savannah; many great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved siblings for which he always had an open door and a place in his heart.  He looked forward to the visits and phone calls from his brothers, Robert (Mary), David (Ginny), Danny (Pat) and Gary (Nancy) and his sisters, Pam (Terry), Paula (Chuck) and Priscilla (Roy).  But nobody will miss him more than his best friends, Maurice S. and Scott C.  He was not a man that enjoyed a lot of attention and fuss so per Jack’s request, he will be cremated and buried in Warn –Tenbroeck cemetery with no service given.
