Irene M. Barnes

Irene M. Barnes, 88, of Greene, New York, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2021. She was predeceased by her devoted and much-beloved husband, Hubert, and by her brother Ernest White. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David and Debbie Barnes; siblings Ruth Kimber, Dorothy Canova, and Richard White and Martha White; grandchildren Timothy and Tara Barnes and Sarah and Lester Crampton; great-grandchildren Henry and Iris Barnes and Teddy and Clifford Crampton; and many nieces and nephews. Irene was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Greene and a member of the Algonquin Antique Automobile Club and the Greene Grange. She shared her giving nature in the church's Sunday school and acolyte program, among other examples of her care for her family and community. A private funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Greene. A graveside service to be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Norwich, New York, will be announced by Root Funeral Home in Greene in the spring. Irene was a loving spouse, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Kind, faithful and gracious, she will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 32 South Chenango Street Greene, NY 13778.
