             3/19/32-5/12/22

On Thursday, May12, 2022 Helen G. Hendrickson, loving wife and mother of three children passed away at the age of 90. Helen was born in Brooklyn N.Y. to Charles and Carolyn Goodman. She grew up in Floral Park, NY and graduated from Sewanhaka High School where she met and was married to her husband Morton for 61 years.  They moved to Harrisburg in the mid 1950’s. Helen dedicated those early years to raising their three children Lynn, Susan and Robert.  Once they became empty nesters, Helen and Mort enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening, square dancing, backyard pool parties, Otsego Lake, family games and traveling abroad.  Helen enjoyed adventure and was never known to turn down a new challenge.  She loved all water sports including skiing, tubing, sailing and watercraft.  Helen got her motorcycle license in her 40s and could be seen driving around town on the family Yamaha. Most of all Helen treasured time with family. Helen was an active member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral in Harrisburg for over 60 years.  During that time, she served on the vestry, the alter guild, sang in the women’s choir, ran the cathedral bookstore, served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and played an active role in establishing the early Family Health Ministries. She also served as a volunteer at the Beacon Hill Clinic in Harrisburg. Helen is remembered by those whose lives she touched as being selfless, loving and generous in spirit and that her whole mission in life was to bring joy and comfort to those around her. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Fred.  Helen is survived by her children Lynn, Susan (Peter) and Robert (Judy); her brother Chuck (Sandy); several cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as grandchildren Scott, Greg, Jessica, Christine, Krista ,David and  Michael, as well as her beloved great grandchildren Keytan, Joshua, Cain, Briar, Asher, Kingston, Huxley, Tripp and Ainsley.  Funeral services will be held May 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Cathedral, Harrisburg. Flowers may be sent directly to the cathedral.  She will be interred at Mort’s side in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
