Gladys A. Hamilton, 101, of Chenango Forks, went to be with her Lord on September 14, 2018 at Susquehanna Nursing Home. She is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Mabel Warner; first husband, Otto Schmidt; second husband, Richard Hamilton; son, Robert Schmidt; grandsons, Philip Schmidt, Ben Foley, and Stephen Thorn; great-granddaughter, Brenda Nichols; step-daughters, Jean Perry and Joan Thorn; sons-in-law, Burr Torrey and Dick Secoolish; and 13 siblings. Gladys is survived by her children and their spouses, Albert (Patsy) Schmidt, (Jane Schmidt), Eloise (Floyd) Albro, Carol Secoolish, Beverly Torrey, William (Janet) Hamilton, and Richard (Kim) Hamilton; sister, Dawn Dalton; 54 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 48 great-great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-great-grandchildren. Gladys was the matriarch of the family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother that always put her family first. She was as sharp as a tack right up to her final days. She will be truly missed by the six generations she leaves behind. Friends of the family may call from 5-7pm at Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778 on Friday, September 21, 2018, and from 10-11am Saturday September 22, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11am, at Root Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Glen Castle Cemetery.
