Fredrick C. Gaylord of Greene
Son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Fred Gaylord was born December 29, 1938, the son of Harold and Wilma and is survived by his brother Huck Gaylord. Fred was a loyal friend to many having graduated from Chenango Forks High School and retaining many of his school friends throughout his lifetime. He also served in the Marine Reserves for 6 years. After high school Fred turned his incredible work ethic into Gaylord Refrigeration, which he successfully owned and operated for nearly 40 years. Upon his retirement he devoted his life to raising beef cattle on his beloved Back Acres Ranch.
Fred was father and friend to Teal, Penny, Faline, Tracy and Chuck and two stepchildren Denise and Art Darling. He had 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who all benefited from the time he spent with them. They will miss him terribly!  He was a great outdoorsman and hunter, spending much time sharing this passion with his children, grandchildren and friends. Until his last days Fred was young of heart and spirt, curious to learn and use the latest technology. Fred loved following the stock market and had a passion for doing fun and new things with his family; he loved to participate and was up for any adventure.
Fred will be remembered by many as a loyal friend, story teller and adventurer. He will be missed by those who congregate at the Smithville Store each Saturday and Sunday morning. Fred is survived by his wife Susan Morgan Gaylord with whom he also shared and enjoyed many of his interests.
His family invites friends and family to gather in remembrance of his life on May 25, 2022 at 5:00 to 7:00pm with a tribute to follow at 7:00 pm at Berean Bible Church, Greene, NY. Interment will be at the Upper Smithville Cemetery on May 26 at 11:00 am. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
