Frances J. Lee

Frances Lee, 93, of Greene went to be with her Lord on November 4, 2021. She was born on July 1, 1928 in Greene, daughter of the late Esther (Butts) and Willard Olmstead.  Her mother died shortly after giving birth and Frances was raised by her paternal grandmother, Agnes Olmstead. Fran was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Leonard; stepmother, Hilda Alderman and brother, William Olmstead Jr. She is survived by sister-in-law, Marilyn Olmstead and her family from Lexington, KY; special cousin, Sandra Bryant and her daughters, Lisa (Frank) Dahar and Diana (William) Kenyon and their families and several cousins on her mother’s side. After graduating from Greene Central School, Fran went to work at Raymond Corporation where she became a buyer. She retired on April 1, 1988 after 42 years of service. Fran was a lifelong member of Zion Episcopal Church where she was baptized, confirmed, married and now her funeral. She taught Sunday School, was clerk of the Vestry for many years and was financial secretary. She served a few years as trustee for Greene Community Services. Fran was musically inclined, played the piano and had a pleasant voice. She sang in the Zion Choir most of her life and sang at many of her friends weddings. She enjoyed her family and friends and loved to read. A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Zion Episcopal Church in Greene. Friends may call Sunday from 1:00pm until the time of service at Zion Episcopal Church in Greene. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Zion Episcopal Church Memorial Fund or Greene Emergency Squad.
