Eugene Goodrich Obituary

Eugene (Woody) Wayne Goodrich, 57 of Greene passed away on Wednesday, April 13th 2022 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City with his loving wife, Judy by his side. Eugene was born on September 1st, 1964 in Johnson City to the late Eugene Goodrich and Joyce Krasko. Joyce lovingly referred to Eugene as her problem child due to his strong fearless determination and the amount of stubbornness and fight he put into everything in his life. This determination and fearlessness was evident in him until the very end. He bravely fought Polycystic Kidney Disease and after years on dialysis he finally received a kidney transplant on September 11th, 2021. After his transplant he was able to start his road to recovery and start enjoying life with the love of his life Judy. Their favorite place to enjoy each other’s company was at the patio of their home where they were united in marriage on July 13th, 2013. Eugene worked as a foreman at both DDS and Labarge Brothers and was well loved till this day by many coworkers that went on to become friends over the years even after PKD caused him to take an early retirement and focus on his health. He graduated from Greene High School in 1984 where his favorite activity was football. He loved retelling the stories from his football days which followed him briefly past his high school days and allowed him to play semi pro on the TC Jets. He chose to end his impressive football career when he became a father. He was an even better father than football player which shows what an impressive man and father he was because his football career still echoes in the small town of Greene New York years later. Eugene was predeceased by his father Eugene Goodrich; sisters, Beth Goodrich and Jean Marie (Gary) Chamberlain and beloved dogs Zippy and Sassy. He is survived by the love of his life Judy; mother, Joyce Krasko; daughter, Cherish Goodrich; grandson, Xander Cacialli; siblings, Susan (Richard) Karpensky, Carol (Mark) Ryan, Bruce (Barbara) Goodrich and Greg Goodrich. Eugene had many special family and friends and nieces and nephews that his world revolved around. He was the type of man that would give the shirt off his back or put a smile on your face on the worst of days. His favorite hobby was tractor pulls. His tractors were his pride and joy. When his health was struggling he enjoyed watching his nephews that held a special place in his heart pull his beloved tractors for him. He watched from the sidelines with a glimmer in his eyes that we can’t be sure if it was caused by pride of his tractors or watching his nephews following in his footsteps.  He loved spending time with friends and family. Whether that be playing pool, darts or simply spending time on the patio surrounded by the people he loved. A time of visitation and saying farewell will be held 4:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday April 20, 2022 at Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778.
