In loving memory of Estefania “Carmina” Marcotte, we remember a wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter who was always quick to share her generous, playful, tenacious, and spicy nature. Stephanie passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, joining her loving husband, Robert; her son, Peter; her parents; and her brother. She leaves behind her daughters, Andrea (her husband, Tom Armstrong) and Maria, and her grandson, Peter. Although Stephanie could be fiery at times, she also had an incredibly tender heart and was deeply affected when she learned someone was struggling. Our family still remembers when a local family lost their home in a fire just before Thanksgiving. Stephanie tracked down where they were staying and delivered a full home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner to them. Acts of kindness like that were simply who she was. She loved baking her cookies, cakes, pies, yeast breads, and donuts. Her favorite was the kolachki, always overstuffed and as big as your head. Mealtime at the old farmhouse was an extension of love and friendship for all who entered that space. It was her way of connecting and letting you know that you were cared for and loved. Although a time of grief, this is part of a process. If we are to feel grief, perhaps we can allow the pain to transform and fill us with hope and joy. Both Robert and Stephanie chose not to have services. The family asks that you honor their memory through simple acts of kindness and connection. Share a cup of coffee, a cookie, or a conversation with a neighbor or friend who may need to feel loved, remembered, and cared for. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
