Elizabeth (Betty) Blanchard, 95, of Binghamton went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents, Parker W. And Mary (Smith) Shaw; her husband of 57 years, George; step-son, Charles A. Blanchard; daughter-in-law, Diana Blanchard; siblings, Sheldon (Theresa) Shaw, Ben (Dorothy) Shaw, Oliver (Mary) Shaw, Paul Shaw, Dave (Jeanne) Shaw and Esther (Howard) Butler; also sisters-in-law, Edna Shaw, Leona Shaw, Honora Shaw and Mabel Shaw. Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) and Jeff Schultes; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Brenda Blanchard; daughter-in-law, Sandi Blanchard; grandchildren, Danielle (Chris) Heckman, Casey (Will) Shannon and Stephen Schultes; sister-in-law, Joyce Shaw; several nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend, Thelma Mitchell. She was an exceptional woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Betty enjoyed many activities including boating, camping, swimming, square dancing, reading, needlework, painting and sculpting paper roses. She retired from Bendix Corporation (now Amphenol Aerospace) 40 years ago. After retiring, Betty and George wintered in Riverview, Florida. Family will receive visitors at Central Baptist Church, 1606 Upper Front St., Binghamton, from 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, March 11, followed by a memorial service at the church at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778.
