Donald F Shafer, of Greene, passed away on November 26, 2020 at the age of 93 peacefully in his home with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith; father, Floyd T. Shafer; mother, Ethel Shafer and 2 brothers, Roger and Thomas. He is survived by his children, Sharon(Roman) Filip, Don ( Deb) Shafer, Dolores ( David) Poole, Priscilla (Shawn) Vanderbunt, Sheila Shafer ( Nat Chediak) and Judy (Rich) Lance; sisters, Doris Weaver, Jan (Lew) Freeman; brother, Paul ( Ree) Shafer; 13 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. As a young boy Don worked for the family coal business in Johnson City. His family then moved to Greene where he worked the family farm. Don served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Upon his return he married Edie and settled in Greene to raise their family. Don retired from the Raymond Corporation as security guard and courtesy car driver, where he enjoyed meeting and chatting with people very much. After retirement Don became an avid garlic farmer. Don took great pride in all he did in life. Don was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Greene. A special thank you to the nursing staff at Lourdes at Home and Lourdes Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Huntersfield Christian Training Center, 251 Huntersfield Road, Prattsville, NY 12468.
