Donald G. Peters

Donald G. Peters, 90 of Bridgeport, WV (formerly of Greene, NY) passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was born October 20, 1932 in Scranton PA to George and Irene Peters and is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marge (1934-2007); his parents and sister, Marion Nicolas (Bobby). Donald will be remembered and missed as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn Hunter, Barbara Roth (Bill) and Jeanne Peters; son, Don Peters (Paula), seven grandchildren, Matthew Hunter (Chelsea), Chad Hunter (Jenna), Marjorie Perez (Chris), B.J. Roth (Ashley), Joe Roth (Sarah), Christen Sampson (Erick) and Sarah Peters (and fiance’ Ethan Miles); nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. After growing up in Scranton, Don enlisted in the US Army where he served a tour of duty in Germany as a transportation specialist. Upon leaving the service and working various jobs in Scranton, Don moved to Greene, NY where he worked at the Raymond Corporation for many years. Don will be remembered most in Greene for his many years serving at the Labor Day Picnic ‘hamburger tent' with his loving wife Marge. Later in his career, Don moved to Bristol VA, then to Bridgeport WV, with his wife of 55+ years, Marge to retire where they spent many years crafting, woodworking and enjoying visits from their children and grandchildren. Don was a member of the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church. Friends of the family may call Saturday, June 17 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local American Legion.
