David VanSlooten Jr.

David VanSlooten Jr., 85, of Greene passed away Monday, August 8, 2022. He was predeceased by his parents, Emily and David VanSlooten Sr. and brother, Robert. David is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Debbie, James and Christopher; brother, Richard (Lorraine); sister, Joni (Michael) Paino and several nieces and nephews. Starting in his early teens, David worked on the family dairy farm and also helped raise chickens for the Babcock’s farm. He then worked for Raymond Corporation for 41 years until his retirement in 2002. He was an electrician, carpenter and an all around “fix-it” man. David was very active in Civil Air Patrol, Ham Radio, Boy Scouts, the First Congregational Church and he was the ‘soundman’ for the Labor Day picnic for many years. He had a very strong work ethic which he passed along to his children. A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N.
