After reaching the goal of his 94th birthday on January 27, David G. King, of Coventry, went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Esther [Allebach] King; 5 children, Glenn (Leila) King, Eileen (Darald) Kinne, Rhoda (Scott) Kinne, Nathan (Tara) King, and Paul (Gina) King; and 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. David was a lifelong dairy and beef farmer. He was born in Norristown, PA, and he was a graduate of Schwenksville High School. He was a standout athlete, especially in baseball. He anchored third base for the Pennsylvania American Legion state championship runner-ups. David was very proud to have been invited by the St. Louis Cardinals for a tryout. David chose instead to marry Esther after meeting her at a local Mennonite Church in Perkiomenville. David was a faithful Christian throughout his life, attending various local churches. He was a Sunday School teacher and elder, and he drove the tractor on many church hayrides. He and Esther were a very hospitable team, and the Coventry farm was usually filled with church members, guests, family, and friends. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and cutting wood. He enjoyed playing card and board games with friends and family. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather. David was predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Lidie King, and his sister Doris Meyers. A memorial service will be held February 14 at Berean Bible Church in Greene. Calling hours will be at 11 am. The service will be held at noon. The family welcomes attendees to wear red in honor of David's favorite color. Please RSVP to a family member if you are planning on attending the service. A private graveside service will be held in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to Esther King to further support the Christian ministries of Megan Richner, Alex King, and Jordan King. A big thank you to the Chenango County Hospice team for providing compassionate support and care throughout the last 7 months. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778, and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
