David L. Harrington
~~ Miss me, but let me go~~
David, a/k/a “Harri” was born 3/18/1954 first of identical twins, passed away 6/19/2021 surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle against cancer. Next to being called “Dad” by his son Donnie, his favorite and proudest nickname was “Pa” given to him by his precious granddaughters, Taya and Deez. Dave married the love of his life, Debbie, on June 30, 1979. Dave graduated from Greene Central School in 1972 and immediately started working for Goodell (Cook’s) Tree Service in Vestal for 16 years. Then working 2 years at Calvary Cemetery as a main landscaper, he then went to work locally for the Town of Greene as a heavy equipment operator, a job he was dedicated to and took much pride in doing for 30 years. His supervisor, Pete Raymond, whom David respected beyond words, labeled Dave the “The People Whisperer”. He had a sincere and true demeanor about him with the public. He retired April 2019. Dave is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Debra (Epply) Harrington, his son, his pride and joy, Donnie Harrington, his precious granddaughters, Taya (Tyler Dickman) Harrington, Mercedes Harrington, siblings, twin brother and best friend, Daniel (Nancy) Harrington, Darlea (Scott) Wiley, Bradly (Shawn) Harrington, Jane (Glen) Vetzikian, Lisa (Rick) Green. Brother in-law Fred (Paula) Epply, many nieces and nephews, long time friend, Jake Kenyon, mother in-law Melvina (Darwin) Taft along with his “wing girl” Rascals and so many friends too numerous to list. Dave was predeceased by his loving humble parents, Willard H. Harrington (Murph) and Cynthia M. Jones Harrington (Cynnie), his down to earth father in–law whom he admired, Fred Epply Sr. and sister in-law, Julie Epply. Dave and Debbie met at the Airport Inn, Greene, NY January 13, 1979. They were also married at the Airport Inn June 30, 1979, his words were, when it’s right, its right. People said it was too soon, we showed them! Tried and true the relationship was wonderful. So be it fitting for our full circle to come complete, a casual, celebration and buffet will be held at Lippy’s (the old Airport Inn) on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, 5:00-9:00 pm. We welcome anyone that knew Dave and his family to join us in a celebration and share a story of a man that was genuine and true. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution can be made to the fabulous Greene Emergency Squad of Greene.
