Daniel S. Oliver

Daniel S. Oliver, 81 of Greene, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 17, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents, Larry Oliver and Esther Merritt; brother, James Oliver; sister, Grace Brooks; brother-in-law, Jon Clark; stepson, Johnny and nieces and nephews. Dan is survived by sisters, Cherrie Clark and Maxine Cook; 2 stepsons, Marvin Heyd and Raymond Heyd; several nieces, nephews and special friends. Dan retired after 20 years having served his country in the US Navy. He then was Naval Recruiter for 4 years. During his service, he had many positions but was most proud of his 16 years on the USS Sea Devil and USS Andrew Jackson SS400 submarines. After retirement from the Navy, he owned a gas station in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and then finally coming back home to Greene where he sold real estate. He was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors including hunting and fishing. “Uncle Dan” was a very giving friend to everyone. Private services are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Berean Bible Church, 109 County Road 2, Greene, New York 13778 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
