Dale Haskell Obituary

Dale A. Haskell, 72, of Unadilla passed away peacefully on April 19, 2022 in New Berlin. He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Winifred Haskell; brother, David (Joyce) Haskell and his faithful companion, Tigger.  Dale is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda (Richardson) Haskell; daughter, Colleen (Harry) Lutynski; son, Jesse (Kally) Haskell; grandchildren, Sarah Capwell, Todd Capwell, Tyler Lutynski, Easton Haskell and Everly Haskell; great grandchildren, Lisa and Alex; sister, Diane (Jerry) Casey and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind his Black Lake family and his friends from his many years at IBM. Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bird watching and was always the constant jokester.  His home away from home throughout his entire life was Black Lake and it will never be the same without him. If you were lucky enough to go on an adventure with him, you could learn how to catch frogs, bullhead fish, extreme water tube, or run for your life from the dock to the camp to avoid being eaten by mosquitoes after a late evening fishing trip.  Spending time with his youngest grandchildren Easton and Everly over the last few years, kept him young at heart and always brought a smile to his face.  His lively debates with Easton always made for an exciting day, especially for Grandma. Dale also loved cooking and took great joy in serving his amazing Lumpia at Christmas time and always made extra for everyone to take home. He gave over a decade of his life to the US Navy and was very proud of the service he provided and was humble about the commendations he received.  He never went anywhere without his Navy hat and loved keeping track of his older grandchildren, Sarah and Todd and their Navy experiences.  Many of us looked to the sky with confusion when he pointed out a B1RD or GU11, but realized his military code for birds and seagulls pretty quickly.  Thank you to the Nurses and Staff at Chase Memorial Nursing Home for being there for him during this last year and helping him through his battle with dementia. Your quick wit and sarcasm will be greatly missed and you will be forever in our hearts. Thank you for sharing your love of the outdoors, humor and adventurous soul with us.  Have fun with Uncle David playing Chicken House hockey. Fair Winds and Following Seas. A Celebration of Life will be held from Noon until 5:00 pm June 18 at the home of Colleen Lutynski, 356 West Main St, Apalachin, NY 13732. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
