Carolyn Maider Obituary

Carolyn left this life on November 8th, 2023.  She was born Carolyn Edith Davey on December 27, 1925 in Syracuse, NY to the late F. Lloyd and Jennie L. (Campbell) Davey.  She is survived by her loving husband of 78 years, Harold G. Maider.  With their family, they spent many years in Greene, NY, before retiring to Ocala, FL in 1990. In 2012 they returned north to reside at United Methodist Homes Hilltop in Johnson City, NY.  Carolyn graduated from Eastwood High School (1944), Syracuse, NY and The Binghamton School of Practical Nursing (1968), Binghamton, NY.  She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 15 years at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City.  Carolyn was an active member of the Greene United Methodist Church, Greene, NY and St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Ocala, FL. Along with her dear husband Harold she is survived by their children, Gary (Sylvia) Maider, Tampa FL, Krista (Lawrence) Guidici, Binghamton, NY, Ellen (Robert) Marsh, Port Crane, NY, Jayson Maider, Binghamton, NY, and Cathryn (Bruce) Marchese, Orchard Park, NY.  She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. Carolyn will be remembered by all who knew her for her loving and accepting ways, her kindness, cheerfulness and laughter.  Over the past year she endeared herself to the caring staff at JGJ Nursing Facility in Johnson City with her sweet smile and gratitude.  A memorial service will be held at The First United Methodist Church of Greene, NY at a later date.  The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to The First United Methodist Church of Greene, 32 S. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778 and condolences may be sent to the family at www.rootfh.com.
