Arthur Eldred Obituary

Arthur “Art” Eldred, 74, of Triangle went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2025. He was predeceased by his father, Malvin “Herb” Eldred and mother, Carrie Eldred; brother, Bob Eldred; sister, Shirley Detweiler; brother, Malvin Eldred and sister, Janice Carr. Art is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Yvonne; son, Chad Eldred; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Jim Barden; daughter and son-in-law, Corinne and Greg Gorniok; grandchildren, Peyton Barden, Demi Barden, Jonah Barden, Nina Gorniok and Lydia Gorniok; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Ruth Eldred; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Chuck Safford; brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Cecilia Eldred; many nieces and nephews; and his wonderful group of hiking buddies. Art worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Universal Instruments and retired from there after 40 plus years of service.  Art earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from Binghamton University. An honor that he earned while working full time and raising his family. The accomplishment illustrated Art’s trademark determination and extraordinary work ethic. Art was a strong believer in fitness and engaged a wide variety of exercise activities. During his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors either working on his lawn or in the garden. Art had a passion for hiking; a hobby he pursued with his cherished group of friends and hiking buddies. Together, this merry band completed all 46 peaks of the Adirondacks, creating memories and forging a lifelong bond. Art was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many and will be remembered and missed by everyone. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Triangle Volunteer Fire Department, 3621 State Route 206, Whitney Point, NY 13862.
