Anneliese M. Shapley

Anneliese M. (Haas) Shapley, 86, of Smithville passed away on November 17, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Shapley; parents, Johannes and Elisabetha Haas; brothers, Hans and Gerhardt and sister-in-law and life-time friend, Marion Beach. Anneliese is survived by her children, Yvonne (Stanley) Tannenholtz, Brenda (Tim) Crumb, Laureen (Paul) Brady and Skip Shapley (JoAnn); grandchildren, Gage (Amanda), Anna, Connor (Hannah), Jordan (Briana) and Ian (Travis); her German family, Tilli, Bernd, Silke and Andrea; companion, Frank Smith and his family and numerous nieces and nephews. Anneliese was born and raised in Viernheim, Germany moving to the states at the age of 24 where she married her first love Ronald. She was a seamstress by trade; later on, retiring from Page Print as a graphic designer. She raised four wonderful children who she remained close to and was involved in their daily lives. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. In later years she was blessed to have found love and friendship with Frank Smith III. She had amazing strength and a generous heart and never shied away from giving her opinion. We would like to express our gratitude to the ER Staff at Wilson Hospital for the care they provided to our mother. ewige Ruhe (Eternal Rest) A funeral service will be held 11:00am Tuesday, November 23 at the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, 28 North Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778.
