William W. Whitaker Sr.

William W. Whitaker Sr., 75, of Greene, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his home. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Marion Whitaker. Bill is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Julie and John Harrington; son and daughter-in-law, William and Margaret Whitaker Jr.; grandchildren, Jenna, Joshua and Jordan Harrington, Eliza, Ashley and Brandon Whitaker. Bill graduated from Greene Central School Class of 1961, and received an Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology from Broome Technical Community College. Bill retired as a Test Technician from Raymond Corporation after 35 years of service. He also operated his own fabricating business, Billy-Built Machine Design and Fabrication. In his retirement, his true passion was fabricating and working with metal in his shop. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, spending time with his family, and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, at Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. Friends of the family may call Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at Root Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank his caregivers, doctors, and Chenango Hospice who enabled him to stay home.
