Virginia L. (Olin) Alger of Brisben, passed away on January 6, 2020. Virginia, better known as Blondie was born on August 3, 1927 in Greene, daughter to the late Clifford Olin and Eva B. (Ingraham) Olin Davis. She was also predeceased by her husband of 61 1/2 years, LaVern W. Alger Jr.; stepfather, Harold Davis; sisters, Wilma Davis and Martha Decker; brother-in-law and friend, Floyd Davis. Blondie was the loving mother of three children, Vicki (Don) Reynolds, Randy (Mary Jane) Alger, Patricia (Joe) Burdick; 7 grandchildren, Staci (Emmett) SanSoucie, Corey Phillips, Stephanie (Allan Soper) Alger, Katie (Brendon) Ives, Jared (Allison) Alger, Ben Burdick and Ginny (Kenny) Burdick; 6 great-grandchildren, Evan and Jake SanSoucie, Elizabeth and Clayton Ives, Emma and Carly Alger. She also had many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Blondie graduated from Greene High School Class of 1944. After school she worked at GLF fuel company for 2 to 3 years and she earned and was able to buy and pay for her first car. She was proud of that. On October 10, 1947 she married her husband Jr. and they ran a dairy farm for several years. She loved farming. They moved to Brisben in 1956 and after farming there for 3 years, Blondie started a grocery store business and ran the Brisben Superette for 24 years. She was a great business woman and enjoyed the public connection. In the mid 1980's Blondie retired. After retirement she enjoyed raising herferd heifers, gardening and lots of cooking and canning. She also helped care for grandchildren and loved her whole family so much! She was a member of ABC group, which she so enjoyed. Blondie had many friends who will remember her bright smile and character. We will remember you always Mom. Peace be with you. A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Saturday at Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. Friends of the family may call Saturday at 12:00pm until the time of service at Root Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery in the spring.
