Tina M. Turner

Tina M. Turner, 43, of Greene, passed away at home on Saturday, January 12, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Troy; daughter Sierra; parents; Jack and Cathy Elderkin; sister and brother-in-law; Shelly and Tim Howell; brother, Tracy Elderkin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerry and Millie Turner; two brothers-in-law  and sister-in-law, Terry and Debra Turner, Stephen Turner; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many special friends. Tina had a lifelong love of horses and successfully showed them on a national level. She treasured her family and time spent with them. Tina was a gourmet cook and a gracious hostess. She had an amazing ability to make friends and shared her quick wit and humor  when you least expected it. She was the life of the party. Not only was she beautiful on the outside, but she was kind hearted, loving, giving and true. Anyone who spent time with Tina would quickly learn how strong willed she was. This quality served her well to the very end. Tina will be missed by all who knew her. She taught us to love more deeply, live more fully and laugh more often. Her family wishes to thank her many doctors, nurses, caregivers and friends who helped her. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Greene with Rev. Amy Gregory officiating. Private burial services will be held in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene in the spring. Friends of the family may call Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00pm and 5:00 to 8:00pm at First United Methodist Church, Greene. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Tina M. Turner Scholarship Fund c/o Greene Dollars for Scholars PO Box 354, Greene, New York 13778.
