Thomas Breck

Thomas A. Breck, 69 of Binghamton  passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017. He was born May 12, 1948 in Binghamton. Thomas was predeceased by parents, Alice Breck and Jack Breck, Sr.; sister, Barbara Addison; brother, James Breck and nephew Trevor Breck. He is survived by his brother, Jack Breck and wife Dianne of Lansing, brother, Ronald Breck and wife Jeannie of Greene, sister, Linda Breck of Binghamton, brother, Loren Breck and wife Lanette of Greene and brother Gregory Breck of New York City. Thomas is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom he loved to spend time with. Tom graduated from Greene Central High School, Greene in 1966.  He served in the United States Navy from 1967-1971 and saw duty in Vietnam on board the aircraft carrier the USS Okinawa. He lived in the bay area of San Francisco during the 1960's and found an ally in its culture of music, poetry and political change. His passions were family, poetry, politics and music. Tom often played harmonica (the harp) with various bands. An avid reader, Tom enjoyed spending time in local bookstores. Some of his favorite reading materials were poetry anthologies, the New York Times, literature on the Vietnam war and the writings of Bob Dylan. He also loved the New York Mets, cooking, and in later years found a talent for woodworking and crafting furniture. Tom spent a great deal of time with his family who enjoyed a nurturing relationship with him due to his insight, knowledge and kindness. He is loved deeply and will be forever with his family and friends. Friends of the family may call Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Root Funeral Home, 23 N.
