Odessa Smith

Odessa Smith, 70 of Greene, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012, after a long battle with leukemia. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan; son, Paul; two grandsons and two brothers, Clifford and Fred Miller. Odessa is survived by her husband of 48 years, Frank; children, Kenneth and Carol Smith of Unadilla, Gary and Virginia Smith of Greene, Keith and Carol Smith of Oriskany Falls, Nancy and Richard Wade of Bloomfield; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren;3 sisters; brother;  several nieces and nephews. Odessa raised her family while helping to run their family farm. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday at Root Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene. Friends of the family may call Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Leukemia Society 401 North Salina Street, Syracuse, New York 13203 or to Oriskany Falls Fire Department 172 Madison, Oriskany Falls, New York 13425.
