Morris "Moe" Eccleston Obituary

Morris “Moe” Eccleston, 82, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2018.  He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Eccleston, infant daughter, Deborah Eccleston and granddaughters, Kayleigh and Delaney Eccleston.   He is survived by his five children, James (Michele) Eccleston, Dawn (Richard) Smith, Melody (Steven) Barton, Brian (Vickie) Eccleston and Robin (Barbara) Eccleston; his grandchildren, Jeffrey (Stacey Patch) Barton, Amanda (Jason) Boltus, Eric (Vicki Moats) and Jessica Smith, William, Rose and Thomas Eccleston, Nicholas and Ian Reid, and great-grandson Baker Boltus. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law  and sisters-in-law, Robert and Frances Seaman, Charles and Joan Seaman, Dolores Seaman, Donna Seaman and Wayne Wales.  Moe was a fair and compassionate protector who dedicated his life to serving the citizens of Chenango County.  He retired from a 28 year law enforcement career serving as Norwich City Patrolman, Village of Greene Police Chief, and retiring as Chenango County Sheriff in 1991.  In retirement, Moe enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing at Lake Ludlow, and cheering on his “son” Screenplay.  He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments.  His family is grateful for the support of friends, extended family, the community, and Lourdes Hospice care.  The family will receive friends at Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778 on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral and committal services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Lourdes Hospice, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY  13905.
