Milton R. Allmendinger, 93, of Greene, formerly of Oxford, died Saturday August 4th 2018 at Elizabeth Church Manor. Milton served his country as a Marine during WWII and was stationed in London, England during the “Blitz”. While in London, he met and married Violet Joyce Skeats. He returned home to work for the Delaware and Hudson RR for a period of time before working at NYSEG for 34 years. Milton is survived by his wife, Geraldine; daughters, Marion (Garland) Francis, Hope (Gary) Bazer, Meryt Allmendinger (Sharon deRoeck), Cathy Lamb; son, Roger (Diane) Allmendinger; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great- grandchildren. He was pre-deceased in death by his parents, four brothers and wives, Anna and Joyce. While raising their family in Oxford New York, Milton became a very active “Life Time Legion Member”. He held many offices over the years, including Post Commander. Some of our favorite memories of him are placing flags on Veterans graves and marching in our village parades. Milton’s love of his country, nature, gardening, carpentry, and pets has been handed down through his family. We will miss you Dad.. A small memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under direction of Root Funeral Home 23 N.
