Marguerite L. Stiles,102, of Greene, passed away on December 22, 2019. Marguerite was born at home on May 2, 1917 the daughter of the late Carlyle and Leona Jones. Marguerite graduated from Greene High School in 1935. The annual Greene High School banquet was an event that she always looked forward to attending. Marguerite loved learning and she especially enjoyed history. Her interest in reading, current events and travel contributed to her extensive knowledge on a variety of subjects. In 1938, Marguerite married Frank E. Stiles and for 46 years they experienced the joy of parenthood, hunting, square dancing, snowmobile riding, travel and the company of family and good friends. A superb homemaker, Marguerite always seemed to have a pie baking and coffee brewing for unexpected visitors. Marguerite was a 57 year member of the First Congregational Church. The church community held a special place in Marguerite’s heart. Upon Frank’s passing she donated the carillon to the church in his name knowing he would be pleased to share the melodies of the carillon with the church members and the community. Marguerite also was a 67 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary 692 and Fort Hill Auxiliary 376, a member of the Greene Garden Club and a long time member of the local coin club. Marguerite was also predeceased by her husband, Frank E. Stiles; a daughter, Gail M. Culmone Kemp; a sister, Doris Baker; two half-brothers, Graham and Lansing Golden and a step-brother, Sherwood M. Golden.
