Frances "Jean" Williams

Johnson City - Frances "Jean" Williams passed away at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Johnson City, NY, in the early morning on March 1st, 2018 at the age of 99. Jean is predeceased by her husband Francis Asbury Williams, her sons Robert and Peter and her four sisters, Alice Belle, Wilhemina Grace, Catherine Marie and Virginia May and grandson Troy. Jean is lovingly remembered by her children John (Jean) Williams, CA, Daughter Linda Williams, OR, and Daughter-In-Law, Cathy, Whales. She also leaves behind many grand-children, great grand-children, nieces, nephews and caring friend Marie. Jean was born in Lakewood, PA, July 28, 1918. She graduated from Windsor High School in 1934. Before going on to art school she was employed as a night relief operator at the local telephone exchange. In her usual pioneering spirit, she was also a self-employed artist, designing letterhead for the local greenhouse and a silo company. After her designs were accepted she wanted to go on to art school. SO, away she went to the New York Phoenix School of Design in NYC, to follow her dream! Jean loved art but her true love was nature. Whether it was in the companionship of her Cocker Spaniels, picking seasonal flowers, the tending of the vegetables or storing them for winter, the birds that accompanied each season or the colors as the year passed to the next, she thrived in the beauty around her. She loved to read, but not trivial things. Prize winning authors, substantive topics that made a person think, interested her. Her notebooks are full of poems she would write while looking out a window or stopping to pull weeds in the garden. She painted, threw pottery, wrote poetry, read profusely and lived a wonderfully inspiring awesome life!  In the end… The evening light faded slowly... Like the sound of bells on a distant mountain…. by JW Who knows of the lives we touch. Jean will live on through many in unknown and astounding ways. She will be remembered! A celebration of life will be held on her 100th Birthday, July 28, 2018 with a burial at Knox Cemetery in Ouaquaga, NY
