Fred J. Heisler Sr.

Fred J. Heisler Sr., age 87, of Smithville Flats, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Wilson Hospital. He is pre-deceased by his sons, Mark and Karl Heisler. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Patricia Heisler; children, Fred and Patty Heisler Jr., Eric and Rose Heisler, Barbara and Jim Lake, Timothy and Donna Heisler, Karen Boardman, Linda and Steve Siptrott, Kurt Heisler and Kathy and Chris Merrill; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Glenna Litwin; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was originally from Pennsylvania, but lived most of his life on his farm in Smithville Flats. It was here that Fred and Patricia lovingly raised their 10 children. Living on the farm gave Fred an appreciation for the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was employed as a carpenter for most of his life. He was a master with his hands and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. Fred was an avid antique collector and dealer. After their retirement, Fred and Patricia looked back at all the fond memories that they had about the antique business. A memorial service will be held 10:00AM Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778.
