Everette Lewis

Everette Lewis Sr., 83 of Smithville Flats went to be with his loved ones on February 1, 2019. He was predeceased by his parents, Earl Samuel Lewis and Florence Leona Kenyon-Lewis; sister, Loretta Lewis and brother, Edward Lewis. He is survived by his children, Anthony Lewis, Michele Lewis-Skinner, Stephanie Lewis (Willie) and Everette Lewis Jr. (Terry); sister, Mary Scarfino; brothers, Samuel Lewis and John Lewis; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Everette Sr. grew up on the family farm on Round Pond Road in Smithville Flats and went to grade school at the Smithville Flats school house. He graduated from Whitney Point High School and from Broome Community College with a degree in Engineering. He then volunteered and served his country in the US Marine Corp. Everette Sr. worked as an Engineer in several states across the country. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He loved fishing and hunting. He always had a smile on his face and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He organized the Lewis family reunion every year until his health decline. A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. Friends of the family may call 1:00pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be made in J.D. Lewis Cemetery in Preston in the spring.
