Dorotha Church-Smith Obituary

Dorotha “Dot” Church-Smith, 101, died peacefully on Monday October 22, 2018. Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George “Al” Church-Smith.  Dot was born in Binghamton, NY on November 16, 1916, but soon after, her family moved to Greene, NY where she happily spent her childhood, married George A. Church-Smith and raised her own family.  She moved to Aurora, Ohio in 2007 to be close to her daughter, Nancy Douglas. She is survived by her son, Gary Church-Smith; her daughter, Nancy Douglas;  grandchildren, Bradley Douglas, Alyssa Church-Smith, and Jennifer DiStefano;  great-grandchildren, Grace, Harper and Isla DiStefano; several nieces and nephews. Dot was a devoted daughter, loving and faithful wife, dedicated and caring mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend.  She always gave the best of herself to her family and friends.  She will be missed by all. A funeral service will be held 11:00am Saturday at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. Friends of the family may call Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00am at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Greene Fire Department  8 N. Canal Street, Greene, New York 13778.
