Bernard D. “Bernie” Chapman, 85, of Greene, passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted family on August 23 at the Oxford Veterans Home. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Ferd and Leatha Chapman. Bernie is survived by his wife, Mona Chapman; children, Debra (Joe Andrews) Lehr, Penny (Sean) Stolarcyk, Larry (Cindy) Chapman, Lori (Tim) Johns, Bonnie (Jay) Poyer and Becki Kimble; brother Norman Chapman and his family; 22 grandchildren; 2 great-grand children and dog, Fancy. Bernie served in the air force during the Korean Conflict. He was very involved in the community having served at the Greene Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years and the Lions Club. Bernie enjoyed hunting, fishing and most importantly, spending time with his family. A funeral service will be held 11:00am on Friday August 31 at the First Congregational Church, 28 N Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778. Burial will follow in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene. Friends of the family may call Thursday, August 30 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the First Congregational Church .
