Anna E. Irwin

Anna Elizabeth Du Bois Irwin, age 101, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2017 at James G. Johnston Nursing Home. She was born on January 5, 1916 in New Paltz, New York on the family farm to parents,  Anna Francis Buchanan Du Bois and Fred Du Bois. Anna was also pre-deceased by her husband of 68 years, Robert K. Irwin and five brothers, Harold, Clarence, Fred, Albert and Jerald Du Bois. She is survived by her son, Robert K. Irwin Jr. and Lenore Evanosky; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Larry Driscall; grandchildren, Julie Irwin, James and Vivian Driscall, Daniel and Colleen Driscall and great-grand children, Joe and Claire Harris and William and Everly Driscall. Anna graduated from New Paltz High School in 1933 and Cornell University in 1939. Her career included teaching home economics and kindergarten at Mahopac, Kinderhook and Greene Central Schools. She took great pleasure in knitting, crocheting and making crafts. Her family was the center of her life. A memorial service will be held 1:00PM, Thursday December 28, 2017 at First Congregational Church, 28 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. Calling hours will be from 12:00PM to the time of the service at First Congregational Church. Burial will be held at a later date at Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene.
